After a short distance on the cuckoo trail, stopping to view a sign about the old train that ran to the Asylum from Hellingly station, we visited the old village of Hellingly, including water mill and church.

We walked on farmland, crossing the cuckoo trail on a bridge, and had a taste of Park Wood. We then explored Roebuck Park and grounds of Hellingly Country Park, formerly the Hellingly Asylum, visiting the community cafe for refreshments.

The weather was lovely. This was my first time leading a u3a walk, and the first walk for one of the participants. The group commented that the area was new to them, and they appreciated the background and historical information I shared about the area.
